Photos of Hassocks’ Sussex Principal RUR Charity Cup First Round match against Worthing United at the Beacon on Tuesday August 23rd 2016.
The Robins and the Mavericks shared nine goals in a remarkably entertaining RUR Cup clash at the Beacon in which the hosts eventually prevailed 6-3.
Hassocks went into half time 3-1 ahead thanks to goals from Phil Gault, a first in senior football from Ben Bacon and Jamie Hillwood.
Arran Hassan had netted United’s consolation and they pulled another back after an unfortunate own goal from Ashley Marsh. The deficit was cut to one for less than 60 seconds however, Hassocks going straight up the other end to move 4-2 ahead through Gault’s second.
Quickfire goals from Gault to complete a hat-trick and James Westlake took the Robins into an unassailable 6-2 lead although the visitors did manage to pull another back – or rather, Hassocks did – as a second own goal arrived from joint boss Phil Wickwar who was deputising in goal for the injured Alex Harris.
