National Cup draws give Robins two home games

The draw for the national cup competitions took place earlier today with Hassocks handed home ties in both the Emirates FA Cup and the Buildbase FA Vase against sides from the South East Counties League.

Erith Town of the South East Counties Premier Division will be the visitors in the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup on Saturday 11th August with a 3pm kick off at the Beacon.

It will be the Robins fourth meeting with the Dockers with the Robins having won two and drawn one of the previous three, all of which have come in the FA Cup.

The most recent of those saw Dave John’s side run out 3-0 winners at the Beacon at the same stage of the competition in the 2005-06 season on their way to the second qualifying round – the goals that day coming from Anthony Hibbert and a Pat Harding brace.

The winners of that tie will go onto face either Loxwood or the Hassocks FA Cup conquerors of last season Hollands and Blair away from home in the Preliminary Round on August 25th.

In the FA Vase, Hassocks will face K Sports for the first ever time with last seasons South East Counties Division One runners up set to visit the Beacon on Saturday 1st September.

The winners of that tie will take on Deal Town at home in the second qualifying round two weeks later on September 15th. Our last meeting with Deal was not a good one, a 2-0 away defeat in the first round of the competition in October 2012.
