The first six weeks worth of Southern Combination League Under 23 fixtures have been released with Hassocks set to start their season away at Lancing.
The Robins will make the trip to Culver Road for their season opener on Friday 24th August. Nigel Pearce’s side did the double over the Lancers last season, winning 4-0 away from home and 3-2 at the Beacon.
A first ever meeting at this level with Midhurst and Easebourne follows on Thursday 31st August at the Beacon. A week later, Hassocks travel to Old Barn Way to Southwick. The Robins drew 2-2 and won 5-3 against the Wickers in the 2017-18.
Two weeks later comes a mouthwatering clash as last seasons Under 21 Champions Pagham visit the Beacon. The Lions wrapped up the league title at the Beacon back in May with a 3-1 victory, ending Hassocks’ own championship hopes at the same time.
That completed a league double for Pagham as they’d also triumphed in October’s meeting at Nyetimber Lane.
The Robins final September fixture is also at home when Mile Oak make the short journey over the South Downs. A Matt Berridge goal gave Hassocks a 1-0 win away from home against Oak last season, with the game at the Beacon ending 1-1.
Hassocks will play three times before the league action kicks off. They face Mid Sussex Premier Division side Balcombe at the Beacon on Thursday 2nd August, before home games with Horsham on Thursday 9th August and Newhaven on Monday 13th. Each of those kick off at 7.45pm.
