With no Under 23 football scheduled for this week, it’s Hassocks Under 18s who take centre stage on Thursday night in a raring outing under the Beacon lights.
The young Robins will look to maintain their 100% start to the season when they host Upper Beeding with a 7.45pm kick off.
Hassocks made hard work of their most recent three points, leading Lancing 5-1 with less than half an hour to play before eventually squeaking home 5-4 at Culver Road on Sunday.
Brad Sweetman’s side had opened their campaign a week previously with a convincing 4-1 local derby win at St Francis Rangers.
Beeding were without a game at the weekend but they had a hugely impressive win on the opening day of the campaign, hammering Broadbridge Heath 8-3 away from home.
This is Beeding’s second season of Southern Combination League Under 18 football after joining the Central Division in the summer of 2017.
Hassocks won both meetings between the two last year quite convincingly. The Robins triumphed 9-1 in their first ever trip to the Memorial Field in October with Jake Lindsey notching four times.
They followed that up with a 5-0 win at the Beacon in November as George Galbraith-Gibbons helped himself to a hat-trick.
Hassocks will have plenty of good memories of evening games at the Beacon. The last such occasion saw them defeat Haywards Heath Town 4-1 back in April to be crowned Central Division champions.
Entrance on Thursday night is free.
