It was another super Sunday for Hassocks as both the Ladies and Under 18s sides won to maintain their impressive starts to the season.
Hassocks Ladies faced what looked on paper to be a tough task away at Mole Valley. The two sides came into the clash at the North Leatherhead Recreation Ground as the top two in the South East Counties Women’s League Division One East.
It was the Robins though who ran out convincing winners as goals from Billie Philpott, Claire Stevens and a Katherine Chappell brace secured the three points for Martin Lee’s side and maintained their 100% league record.
Hassocks are next in action this Sunday as they travel to Milford & Witley. Kick off is at 2pm and the game takes place at Burton Pavilion, Milford Heath Road, Milford, GU8 5BP for anybody wanting to make the trip.
The Under 18s got the defence of their Southern Combination Youth League Cup up and running with a 4-2 first round victory over Steyning Town.
The Barrowmen had been the last side to defeat Hassocks in the competition when they won 4-2 at the Beacon in the second round stage in the 2016-17 season.
There was to be no repeat on this occasion however as Tristan Hayes hit a hat-trick for Brad Sweetman’s side, taking his tally for the season onto eight in the process. He overtook Yahya Azizi in the top scorer stakes with Azizi notching the other Robins goal for his seventh of the season. Sweetman gave a debut to goalkeeper Danny Bulgin who impressed.
The young Robins return to league action this Sunday away at Rottingdean Village. That game kicks off at 11am and, just like the Ladies, the Under 18s are looking to extend their 100% record in the league.
