Preview: Hassock U23 v Peacehaven & Telscombe U23, 22/11/18

A week after their elimination from the Sussex Under 23 Challenge Cup, Hassocks Under 23s are again in cup action this Thursday night as they host Peacehaven & Telscombe.

This time, it’s the Southern Combination League Under 23 Cup with a place in the quarter finals up for grabs at the Beacon.

Hassocks are yet to win a game in the competition since it was inaugurated three years ago, having been knocked out at the earliest possible stage by Shoreham in both the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons and falling to AFC Uckfield Town last time out.

The Robins received a bye to the this second round stage while Peacehaven booked their spot thanks to a 4-1 victory over Arundel back in October.

This will be the first meeting between these two sides at Under 23 level. The Tye ply their trade in the East Division where their record reads three wins, one draw and three defeats from their seven games to date.

If you’re looking for some clues as to what Hassocks can expect, then Peacehaven lost 3-1 on the opening day of the campaign to a Hailsham Town side who Hassocks subsequently defeated 6-0 in the County Cup a month ago.

Peacehaven’s victory over Arundel though points to dangerous opponents. The Mullets are currently sat in mid table in the West Division having run both Lancing and Selsey, the two sides to take points off Hassocks this season, close.

Kick off is at 7.45pm at the Beacon and entrance is priced at £3 adults with concessions and under 16s going free. The Robins Bar will be open serving beer and spirits while the T Bar will have hot food and drink on sale.
