Hassocks came close to ending Lancing’s 100% record as only a late penalty save denied the Robins what would have been a deserved share of the spoils against the early Premier Division leaders.
Ben Bacon saw his 87th minute penalty kept out by young Lancers number one Taylor Seymour to give Naim Rouane’s side a 2-1 victory.
James Littlejohn had put Hassocks ahead on the hour mark with a typically classy finish. Two goals in as many minutes from substitute Alex Fair with a quarter of an hour turned the game on its head, setting the stage for Seymour’s late heroics and Hassocks’ late heartbreak.
