Storm Dennis 2-0 Hassocks: Another Beacon game falls to the weather

For the second time in just over 72 hours, Storm Dennis has claimed a Hassocks home fixture with Little Common’s visit to the Beacon postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The fixture with Common goes the same way as Langney Wanderers’ scheduled trip to Mid Sussex on Saturday, leaving the Robins with two more midweek fixtures to fit in.

This is the fourth time that Hassocks v Little Common has fallen to the weather. Saturday 1st November was the date on which the original tie had been scheduled to take place, but that was hit by a waterlogged pitch.

The same fate was suffered by the rearranged game on Tuesday 26th November and then the rearrangement of the rearrangement on Tuesday 14th January.

Hassocks now find themselves in the position whereby they could end up playing Little Common at the Oval, despite the fact the Beacon meeting between the two should have taken place over four months earlier.

The Robins are due to travel to Common on Saturday 21st March. There is even the prospect that Hassocks could face Common twice in the space of a week should the Beacon fixture be rearranged for around that date.

Hassocks are set to face Alfold away and home within 11 days due to the constant postponement of the Robins’ first ever trip to Alfold Recreation.

That game has been rearranged three times so far with the latest date set for two weeks time on Tuesday 3rd March. Alfold come to the Beacon on Saturday 11th.

Please keep an eye on this website and our social media channels for updates as to when both the Little Common and Langney Wanderers fixtures are to be rescheduled for – as we saw with the Horsham YMCA game last week, there could be a quick turnaround. YM’s visit was rearranged for just 10 days after the original game was postponed.

Hassocks are next in action this Saturday with the short trip to AFC Uckfield Town. The next game at the Beacon is a week later on Saturday 29th February.
