Following Storm Dennis wiping out three consecutive games, Hassocks will now have a run of Tuesday night fixtures to contend with from the middle of March.
The first of those takes place on Tuesday 17th March when the Robins will make the short journey to AFC Uckfield Town.
Hassocks’ visit to the Oaks had been due to take place on Saturday 22nd February but was lost to a waterlogged pitch in the aftermath of the storm.
That wasn’t the first time that a clash between the Oakmen and the Robins had been postponed; the corresponding fixture at the Beacon originally set for October suffered the same fate.
The rearranged tie took place at the second attempt and it turned out to be a good night for Uckfield who ran out 4-0 winners thanks to a Liam Baitup brace, an own goal and a Bailo Camara strike. Hassocks will seek revenge with kick off set for 7.30pm.
A week later on Tuesday 24th March and Langney Wanderers will come to the Beacon for a 7.45pm kick off. The original meeting had been due to take place on Saturday 15th February, but fell to a 10am inspection.
The decision was taken with parts of the pitch already waterlogged following another week of incessant rain hitting Mid Sussex and with further wet weather and high winds expected over the course of the next 48 hours from Dennis, there seemed little prospect that the game would reach a conclusion even if it did start.
Langney’s visit will be the fourth meeting between the sides in 2019-20. Hassocks won the first 2-0 in the FA Cup back in August thanks to goals from Jack Rowe-Hurst and Matt Berridge while Wanderers went onto triumph 4-0 at Priory Lane in the league and 4-2 at the Beacon in the Peter Bentley League Cup, two games which took place within seven October days of each other.
The Robins will round off a packed March when Little Common come to the Beacon on Tuesday 31st, again with a 7.45pm kick.
Remarkably, this will be the fifth attempt to get Common’s visit played stretching right the way back Saturday 1st November.
A deluge of rain left the Beacon unplayable on the that day and the same fate was suffered by the rearranged game on Tuesday 26th November, the rearrangement of the rearrangement on Tuesday 14th January and the rearrangement of the rearrangement of the rearrangement on Tuesday 18th February.
It means that the Robins will now face Common twice in the space of 10 days, with the reverse fixture at the Oval taking place on Saturday 21st March.
