It was the Robins’ first competitive home game since February and so there was a lot to cram in. We had a round up of Hassocks’ pre-season results and news of all the comings and goings at the Beacon over what had been a very busy summer on the transfer front.
There were tributes paid to former Hassocks manager and assistant Fred Wetherhill and one-time club linesman Graham ‘Hans’ Lehkyj who both passed away during the break between seasons.
The classic match between Hassocks and Lancing remembered came from seven years ago when Nathan Miles scored a hat-trick in a 3-1 win at Culver Road and there was a round up of all the Southern Combination League club’s FA Cup efforts the previous week.
