Eastbourne United game postponed due to fuel crisis

No midweek matches across Sussex as fuel shortages bite

Hassocks’ home game on Tuesday 28th September against Eastbourne United has been postponed by the Southern Combination League because of the current fuel crisis.

The entire Premier Division and Division One midweek programme is off as Sussex suffers from acute fuel shortages. Forecourts across the county have run dry, despite the government trying to claim that there is not actually any problem.

In a statement to clubs, the Southern Combination League said: “In view of the ongoing and escalating current fuel shortage, the SCFL has reluctantly decided that all fixtures scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday evening should be postponed.”

“The situation will continue to be reviewed on a daily basis – and any decision regarding Under 23 games on Thursday will be made nearer the time. All fixtures will be rescheduled at the earliest opportunity.”

Hassocks Under 23s are currently due to take on St Francis Rangers at the Beacon on Thursday night. We will communicate whether the game will go ahead once we have confirmation from the league, as well as offering an update on the status of Saturday’s trip to Bexhill United.
