Photos of Hassocks’ Sussex Principal RUR Charity Cup semi final against Littlehampton Town at the Beacon on Tuesday 26th April 2022.
The Robins gave a decent account of themselves in their first semi final for a decade, losing 2-0 to recently crowned Southern Combination League champions Littlehampton Town.
A long evening looked in store when Joe Benn gave the Marigolds the lead from the penalty spot inside of 15 minutes.
Ex-Hassocks midfielder Scott Kirkwood was sent off for Littlehampton shortly after however and that made things a little more interesting, allowing the Robins to become more of an attacking force.
It needed an excellent James Binfield save from a Joe Bull drive to ensure the visitors made into the break ahead.
Hassocks then fell asleep from a corner early in the second half, leaving George Gaskin free to double the Littlehampton advantage with the Marigolds’ 200th goal of the campaign.
The Robins did lots of huffing and puffing after that but were unable to find a way through as the curtain came down on their 2021-22 season.
Littlehampton meanwhile set up a date with Saltdean United in the final, to go with their FA Vase final and Peter Bentley League Cup final appearances against Newport Pagnell and Newhaven respectively.
