Over 400 children from the Junior Section descend on the Beacon for football and awards
The Senior Section of Hassocks Football Club were delighted to play host to the Junior Section on Sunday 8th May for their End of Season Awards afternoon.
Over 400 children from the local area descended on the Beacon, taking advantage of the facilities and the wonderful weather to have a memorable time.
The Clubhouse did a roaring trade. The kids kept the T Bar busy all afternoon whilst parents and the coaching teams of the Junior sides were able to enjoy the offering of the Robins Bar.
Awards were handed out for all age groups, from Under 5s to Under 17s. There was also a lot of football played on the Beacon pitch, with small sided games held throughout the day and some age groups mixing together to hold tournaments.
This was the first time that the Beacon had hosted the Junior Section awards. The feedback was that everyone enjoyed their day.
Hopefully some new fans might head back on a Saturday afternoon to cheer on the Robins in what is shaping up to be an exciting 2022-23 under new head coach James Westlake.
Westlake is himself keen to strengthen the links between the senior sides and the Juniors next season. Hassocks already offer free entry to Under 16s for all football played at the Beacon.
The Junior Section look forward to using the Beacon for more events in the future. They extend their thanks to the seniors for hosting – especially chairman Dave John for facilitating the day, groundsman Alan John for allowing 400 children to run around on his pride and joy, Owen John for running the Robins Bar and Chris Low for the T-Bar.
