Robins have their October fixtures confirmed

Two first team home game for Hassocks in third month of the campaign

Hassocks have had their October fixtures confirmed with two Southern Combination Premier Division home games throughout the third month of the season.

The first comes against AFC Varndeanians on Saturday 8th. Remarkably, it will be the Robins’ first Saturday 3pm league fixture at the Beacon of the campaign so far.

Hassocks will be out for revenge against opponents who have already visited Mid Sussex this season. Varndeanians ran out 2-0 winners in the Peter Bentley League Cup at the start of September.

The second home game of the month takes place on Saturday 22nd October and is the rearranged fixture with Eastbourne United.

Hassocks had been due to face Anthony Storey’s side on September 10th, only for the game to be postponed as a mark of respect following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

United currently sit second in the Premier Division. With Hassocks having taken points from other high flyers Horsham YMCA and Broadbridge Heath in recent weeks, United will offer another chance for an impressive result for the Robins.

Hassocks start the month with a trip to Loxwood on Saturday 1st October, kick off at 3pm. The Robins will be looking to improve their record at the Nest, where they have won only once before.

Liam Benson, Spencer Slaughter and a Phil Johnson brace secured a 4-0 win for the Robins from Plaistow Road in September 2018.

Saturday 15th sees Hassocks go to Crowborough Athletic for the first time since April 2014. The Crows have spent the past eight seasons in the Southern Counties East League before being moved by the FA back to the Southern Combination in the summer.

A trip to table toppers Newhaven on Saturday 29th completes October. Hassocks picked up an excellent 1-1 draw at the Trafalgar Ground in March, all but ending the Dockers’ hopes of keeping pace with Littlehampton Town and Saltdean United in the title race.

The Under 23s face three games in October. They travel to Horsham YMCA on Thursday 6th with an earlier kick off time of 7:30pm at the Herbert Direct Stadium.

A first ever meeting at Under 23 level with Lingfield follows at the Beacon on Thursday 13th before a trip to the Nest to face Loxwood on Thursday 20th.

The Under 18s face a tough start to the month with a home local derby against Central Division leaders Burgess Hill Town on Sunday 2nd October.

Mile Oak away on the 9th, AFC Varndeanians at home on the 16th, Shoreham away on the 23rd and Lancing at home on the 30th make for a busy October.

All Under 18s games kick off at 11am and entrance is free. If you are able to come down and support the Young Robins, please do.

The Ladies have won two games from two so far in 2022-23. Their October begins away at Denne Park on Sunday 2nd.

A League Cup second round tie at AFC Uckfield Town is on the cards for Sunday 9th, followed by a return to Sussex County Women’s League Premier Division action at home against Pagham on Sunday 30th.

The Veterans have a Wednesday night outing against AFC Varndeanians on Wednesday 5th October. Kick off is at 7:30pm for anyone wanting to come and watch the stars of yesteryear pull on a Hassocks shirt again.
