Home is where the heart is for Hassocks in November

Robins scheduled to play four games out of four at the Beacon

Home will be where the heart is for Hassocks in November with all four of their fixtures to be played at the Beacon.

Three Premier Division matches were already penciled in. They are now joined by a home tie in the Sussex Senior Cup.

Saturday’s home fixture with Bexhill United kicks things off. The game between sixth and seventh in the Southern Combination League Premier Division will start at the earlier time of 2pm, as part of an attempt to avoid crippling energy bills through reduced use of the Beacon’s floodlights.

Hassocks’ scheduled trip to Eastbourne Town on Saturday 12th November has been postponed due to the hosts’ continued involved in the FA Vase, where they will instead face Bexhill at the Polegrove.

Not that the Robins have to wait long to face Town. Jude Macdonald brings his side to the Beacon on Tuesday 15th November in the second round of the Sussex Senior Cup.

Kick off is at 7:45pm in what will be the first ever meeting between the sides in the competition. The league trip to the Saffrons meanwhile has been rescheduled for Saturday 17th December.

Saturday 19th November sees Lingfield come to Mid Sussex in another 2pm kick off to avoid floodlight use. It will be the Lingers’ second visit of the season to the Beacon.

The first came back in August, when a quite incredible own goal which chalked up over half a million views on Twitter from visiting defender Conor Wilford gave Hassocks a 1-0 win the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup.

Former Robins head coach Brad Sweetman and a number of ex-Hassocks players return with Saltdean United on Saturday 26th in a 3pm kick off, rounding off November’s first team fixtures.

Just as with Lingfield, it will be the second meeting of the campaign between the sides. Last month saw a 2-2 draw in the Senior Cup with the Robins eventually triumphing 6-5 on penalties.

The Under 23s begin their November with a home game against Oakwood on Thursday 3rd November, starting at 7:45pm. That is followed by Sussex Under 23 Challenge Cup action against West Division outfit Arundel, again at the Beacon on Thursday 10th.

A run of three consecutive home matches is rounded off when Chessington & Hook United visit on Thursday 17th for what will be the third meeting of the season already between the sides. Hassocks have won the previous two in both North Division and League Cup.

Neil Parker’s team play their only away game of the month away at reigning North Division champions Broadbridge Heath on Thursday 24th.

The Under 18s play three times in November and in stark contrast to the first team, every game is away from home. Sunday 6th November sees a long trip down to Selsey in the Southern Combination Under 18 League Cup.

A week off is followed by Central Division matches at AFC Varndeanians on Sunday 20th November and Worthing United on Sunday 27th. All Under 18s games kick off at 11am.

The Ladies also spend the entire month on the road. They are at Pagham on Sunday 6th November followed by a trip to Seaford Town on Sunday 20th November. Both games kick off at 2pm.

Last but by no means least, the Veterans play their only November fixture on Sunday 6th November at the Beacon against Sidley United. Kick off is at 2pm and admission is free for anyone wanting to watch the stars of yesteryear.
