Frozen Saffrons forces cancellation of Robins game at Eastbourne Town

Not enough warmth on the Sunshine Coast

The snow and freezing temperatures of the past week have left the Saffrons pitch frozen, resulting in the postponement of the Southern Combination League Premier Division match between Eastbourne Town and Hassocks.

Sussex has been subjected to minus temperatures since Sunday. It needed a significant thaw down on the Sunshine Coast to make the Saffrons playable and when that did not materialise over night, there was no choice but to call the game off.

This was due to be the second attempt to get Eastbourne Town v Hassocks played. The first in November had to be rearranged due to Town making good progress through the FA Vase.

The Robins know only too well how effective Town are in knockout competitions. Hassocks’ last outing came against Jude MacDonald’s side at the Beacon 11 days ago in the Sussex Senior Cup, the visitors winning 1-0 to progress to a third round meeting with Bexhill United.

Please keep your eyes on the Hassocks website and social media channels for updates as to when the trip to the Saffrons will now take place.

The Robins are next in action on Boxing Day when hosting high flying Steyning Town at the Beacon. Kick off is at 11am.
