Robins first trip to Bartholomew Way postponed due to waterlogged pitch
Hassocks will have to wait a little longer to start their 2023 as Monday morning’s trip to Roffey has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The Boars had tried to source an alternative venue when it became clear that Bartholomew Way was going to struggle with the heavy rain of the past week, but unfortunately that has not been possible.
Everyone at Hassocks would like to thank Roffey for their hard work in trying to get the game played, even if that meant giving up home advantage and playing at a neutral venue.
Had the game gone ahead, then it would have been the Robins’ first competitive match at Bartholomew Way.
Hassocks and Roffey have only faced each other twice in senior football, both times at the Beacon.
The Robins ran out 7-0 winners in the first ever league game between the clubs played on August Bank Holiday Monday at the Beacon.
Roffey had underlined their status as one of the favourites for the Division One title a season earlier when visiting Mid Sussex and winning 5-1 in the second round of the Peter Bentley League Cup.
A new date will be set for the game in due course with updates posted on the Hassocks website and social media channels.
The Robins are next in action this Saturday when AFC Uckfield Town visit the Beacon. Kick off is at 2pm and admission is £7 adults, £3 concessions and free for under 16s.
