Hassocks host Eastbourne Town on opening day of the new campaign
Hassocks will start their 2023-24 Southern Combination League Premier Division campaign with a home match against Eastbourne Town on Saturday 29th July.
Town were the last visitors to the Beacon for the final game of the 2022-23 season. If the Robins could repeat their 4-1 success over Jude MacDonald’s side from that afternoon, it would represent a very good start.
Hassocks then travel to Loxwood on Tuesday 1st August before hosting Erith Town on Saturday 5th in the FA Cup extra preliminary round.
Lingfield come to Mid Sussex on Saturday 12th, followed by the long trip to Pagham for midweek action on Tuesday 15th. The Lions return to the Southern Combination having spent a year in the Wessex League.
August is rounded off with a Bank Holiday double at the Beacon. Midhurst & Easebourne visit on Saturday 26th, followed by Division One champions Shoreham on Monday 28th.
Haywards Heath Town’s relegation from the Isthmian League means that for the first time since 2018-19, the Robins have a festive Mid Sussex Derby to look forward.
Hassocks will host the Bluebells on Boxing Day. The return game takes place at Hanbury Park on Easter Monday 1st April.
As well as facing Heath on December 26th, other games over the Christmas and New Year period include Lingfield at home on Saturday 16th December and Shoreham away on Saturday 30th.
The Robins’ first game of 2023 is a trip to Withdean Stadium to take on AFC Varndeanians on Saturday 6th January.
Floodlight use will be reduced – much to the delight of the treasurer – with only one Tuesday midweek league game scheduled so far. Horsham. Horsham YMCA are the visitors to the Beacon on Tuesday 3rd October.
Other highlights include the chance for Hassocks fans to partake in the famous Steyning Town meat raffle on Saturday 2nd September.
Easter Saturday involves a trip to Horsham YMCA on Saturday 30th March with the season concluding at home against Newhaven on Saturday 20th April.
Hassocks will enter the Peter Bentley League Cup at the second round stage, travelling to face the winners of Selsey against Worthing United. That game will take place on Tuesday 26th September.
The draw for the Under 23s League Cup has also been completed. The Robins will meet Oakwood at Tinsley Lane in the opening round of the competition.
