Robins progress past Varndeanians on penalties in RUR Charity Cup
Highlights from the Sussex Principal RUR Charity Cup First Round match between Hassocks and AFC Varndeanians at the Beacon on Saturday 19th August 2023.
The Robins progressed to the second round of the competition and a meeting with either Roffey or Montpelier Villa thanks to a penalty shootout victory over AFC Varndeanians.
Nothing could separate the sides in 90 goalless minutes meaning the tie had to be decided from 12 yards.
Hassocks scored five of their six penalties through Pat Harding, Kyle Woolven, Joe Bull, Tom Frankland and Liam Benson, which combined with two excellent spot kick saves from Fraser Trigwell saw the Robins win 5-4 from 12 yards.
