Massive month for Robins taking on three of top eight

Big February games at the Beacon coming up against Crowborough and Steyning

The business end of the Southern Combination Premier Division season is fast approaching with February potentially a huge month for Hassocks in their push for a playoff place.

Three of the Robins’ five matches over the course of the month come against sides in the top eight fighting with Hassocks for one of those coveted playoff positions.

But before getting to that run of fixtures, the Robins start February by welcoming Pagham to the Beacon at 2pm on Saturday 3rd. That is followed by the rearranged visit of Little Common on Tuesday 6th at 7:45pm.

Hassocks had been set to host Common on Saturday 20th January before a frozen pitch caused the game’s postponement. Victory would give the Robins their first home win over Little Common since the 1993-94 season.

Four days later and Hassocks head to eighth place Peacehaven & Telscombe for a 3pm kick off at the Window Workshop Sports Park on Saturday 9th February.

The Robins will be looking to follow up their excellent 2-0 win over the Tye at the Beacon with a first league success at Peacehaven since 2011.

Then come back-to-back home games against the sides currently sitting third and second in the Premier Division standings.

Crowborough Athletic are first up on Saturday 16th in a 3pm kick off. The Crows showed why they were table toppers when Hassocks went to the Crowborough Community Stadium in November, inflicting on the Robins a heaviest defeat of the season so far.

February is rounded off when Steyning Town visit the Beacon a week later on Saturday 23rd, also at 3pm.

Hassocks picked up arguably their best win of the campaign in the reverse fixture in November, winning 3-2 in front of a stunned Birchwood Ground. Josh Nandhra, Super Pat Harding and Alex Bygraves got the goals for the Robins.

Two Under 23s fixtures have been scheduled for February so far. The first takes Hassocks to Horley Town on Thursday 8th for a North Division game, followed a week later by Horley visiting the Beacon in the third round of the League Cup.

The Under 18s start February with a mouth watering top-of-the-table clash away at unbeaten local rivals Burgess Hill Town on Sunday 11th February.

There is a rare midweek outing on Wednesday 21st in the League Cup against Lancing, kicking off at 7:30pm at the Beacon.

The Young Robins then round off the month by hosting Montpelier Villa on Sunday 25th, with a slightly earlier than normal start of 10:30am.

There is just one Ladies game at the Beacon in February with their other three fixtures all on the road. Bognor Regis Town are the visitors to Mid Sussex on Sunday 11th with a 2pm kick off.

The Ladies go to Herne Bay on Sunday 4th, kick off at 3:30pm. Consecutive away matches then follow on Sunday 18th at Welling United and Sunday 25th down at Culver Road taking on Montpelier Villa.
