Robins make it five in a row with victory over Lions
Highlights from the Southern Combination Premier Division match between Hassocks and Pagham at the Beacon on Saturday 3rd February 2024.
The Robins made it five successive victories thanks to a 3-1 win over Pagham in a game which was closer than the final scoreline suggested.
Jack Troak was credited with the opening goal on 13 minutes despite it looking suspiciously like Lions goalkeeper Connor Kelly had punched into his own net. Troak’s teammates meanwhile celebrated with Sean Stephenson.
Leon Turner doubled the advantage on the stroke of half time with a fine individual goal. Pagham though came fighting back after the break, pulling one back via a Dan Simmonds penalty to set up a nervy final half hour.
The Robins survived, going onto make the game safe when Pat Harding scored for the fourth game running via a calm-as-you-like penalty of Hassocks’ own.
