Three goals in the opening 11 minutes set Hassocks on their way to a superb victory over a Crawley Down outfit who arrived in BN6 one place above the Robins in the table.
Morgan Vale opened the scoring with his first Hassocks goal on seven. Tall striker Jamie Wilkes made it 2-0 on nine and Big Alex Fair struck the third on 11.
Down pulled one back with their first attack of the game via Callum Kilkenny just past the quarter hour mark, completing a madcap start to proceedings.
Things calmed down markedly from there and only one further goal was added when Vale provided the Robins with their fourth two minutes before half time.
