Robins hit road with four of six games away in October

Just two first team matches at Hassocks Hotel Beacon Ground in third month of the campaign

Of the six games Hassocks will play in October, only two take place at home with the Robins spending the majority of the third month of the 2024-25 season on the road.

Tuesday night’s meeting with Little Common and the visit of Eastbourne United on Saturday 12th October are the sole games in BN6.

A busy October starts with the shortest away trip of the season on Saturday 5th October, over Clayton Hill and down the A23 to Withdean Stadium.

AFC Varndeanians have been one of the most improved sides in the Premier Division so far this season and will provide tough opponents, especially with the prospect of welcoming Brighton Under 21s to Withdean four days later in the second round of the Sussex Transport Senior Cup.

Following the visit of Eastbourne United to the Hassocks Hotel Beacon, we travel to Shoreham in the third round of the Peter Bentley League Cup on Tuesday 15th October, kick off at 7:30pm. An away quarter final against either Petersfield Town or Roffey awaits the winners.

Further cup action follows on Saturday 19th October with a trip to Combined Counties League side Camberley Town in the first round of the Isuzu FA Vase.

It will be the first ever meeting between the Robins and the Krooners, who are one of the oldest non-league teams still in existence in England.

October is rounded off for the first team with a trip to Crowborough Athletic on Saturday 26th October. The game has been selected to be part of the Southern Combination League groundhopping weekend, meaning it kicks off at 5:45pm.

The Under 23s have three October games scheduled so far. They visit Lingfield on Thursday 3rd October, looking to take revenge for the 3-1 defeat inflicted by the Lingers at the Hassocks Hotel Beacon Ground earlier in the campaign.

Back-to-back home games follow against Loxwood on Thursday 10th October and Oakwood in the County Cup on Thursday 17th.

County Cup action this also starts the month for the Under 18s. They host Eastbourne Town in the Sussex Dennis Probee Youth Cup on Sunday 6th October.

Away games at Whitehawk on Sunday 13th – to be played at glamorous Nevill Playing Fields in Hove – and Mile Oak on Sunday 27th complete their fixtures.

The Ladies start October with a tough trip to Sussex County Women’s Premier Division leaders Eastbourne Borough in the League Cup this Sunday.

Eastbourne Town visit BN6 on Sunday 13th before a trip to Worthing Town on Sunday 20th.
