Two goals from Ruari Farrell gave the Robins a 2-1 victory at a freezing Hill Park in a game low on chances.
Farrell opened the scoring from the penalty spot and then doubled the advantage on the stroke of half time with a thumping finish from a Big Alex Fair cross.
Alex Patching pulled one back when Saltdean were awarded a penalty of their own five minutes after the break but Hassocks were able to see out the second 45 pretty comfortably for an important three points.
