Victory at the Hassocks Hotel Beacon Ground would see hosts make history
First hosts second at the Hassocks Hotel Beacon Ground where the Robins can make history with victory over nearest pursuers Crowborough Athletic.
Three points for Hassocks would see them win their first ever piece of silverware in senior football, be crowed Southern Combination champions for the first time and secure a first ever promotion to the Isthmian League.
Crowborough meanwhile will be hoping to keep their own title dream alive – and with it the prospect of winning a treble.
The Crows will take on Eastbourne United in the Sussex Principal RUR Charity Cup final in midweek. The Robins and Crowborough will then meet again in the Peter Bentley League Cup final, currently scheduled for May.
Crowborough Athletic this season
Crowborough made something of a slow start to the current campaign after a number of key players departed to try their luck at Isthmian League football in the summer.
The Crows opening 10 games in all competitions returned three wins, one draw and six defeats. But since the start of September, there has been no looking back.
Long-standing boss Sean Muggeridge has led the Crows to second in the table and two cup finals. They will arrive in BN6 leading the form table having won their past eight games in a row in all competitions.
Hassocks v Crowborough Athletic head-to-head
Hassocks and Crowborough were regular opponents before the Crows found themselves spending nearly a decade in the Southern Counties East League between 2014 and 2022.
30 previous matches have resulted in 14 Robins wins, 13 Crowborough victories and only three draws.
The most recent of those stalemates coming 12 games and 15 years ago, meaning this is not one for the weekend coupon.
Last time Hassocks played Crowborough Athletic
It was Southern Combination League Groundhop Weekend and Crowborough against Hassocks at the Charles Century Community Stadium was the Saturday night offering.
All the goals came in the first 20 minutes. Harry Furnell gave the Robins a perfect start, firing the visitors ahead after just 120 seconds.
The Crows came roaring back though and a quickfire brace from the aforementioned Forster meant it finished 2-1.
In the process, Hassocks suffered their first Premier Division defeat of the campaign and saw a club record eight league game winning streak come to an end.
