Waterlogged pitch puts paid to Eastbourne Town trip

Robins visit to the Saffrons faces another rearrangement

The Southern Combination League Premier Division game between Eastbourne Town and Hassocks at the Saffrons has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Heavy rain has battered Sussex for most of the past week, causing a raft of non league games to be called off across the county.

This is the third time that Hassocks have seen their trip to the Saffrons cancelled. The original fixture in November had to be moved due to Town’s involvement in the FA Vase.

The game was rearranged for December, when a frozen pitch towards the end of a week of minus temperatures led to this January attempt beaten this time by wet weather.

A new date will be announced for the game in due course, when Town and the Robins will hope to make it fourth time lucky.

Hassocks are next in action on Tuesday night when Peacehaven & Telscombe visit the Beacon. Kick off is at 7:45pm.
