Hassocks captain Jordan Badger and goalkeeper coach Haig Kingston praised their side’s resilience after seeing them come from 2-0 down to take something for the third time in five games.
The Robins found themselves trailing to goals from Lucas Mann and Gary Ingram away at Langney Wanderers before rallying to leave Priory Lane with a point following a 2-2 draw.
That followed an identical result in their last away game at East Preston and a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Bexhill United a week prior to that in the Peter Bentley League Cup.
“It’s another game in which we’ve come back from being two behind and it just goes to show where we are as a team right now,” Badger said afterwards.
“We’ve got a terrific attitude in a fantastic side and it took real grit and determination to get something after the start we made.
Badger scored the Robins’ 88th minute equaliser with what was his first goal of the season, and he’s keen to contribute more on the scoring front this season after scoring two goals apiece in each of his first two seasons at the Beacon.
“It was an important goal for the team. That’s my first goal of the season and it was great to get off the mark with such an important one. It’s an area of my game I’m looking to improve to contribute more as captain.”
“Spencer told me he was going to hit top bins so I positioned myself just outside the post in anticipation of a tap in,” Badger revealed.
“He hit the ball sweet, the keepers made a great save and I managed to get a good connection on the loose ball to lift it over him.”
Kingston wasn’t too impressed by Hassocks’ performance but was full of praise for the way in which the Robins rescued a point.
“After what was a below par performance all round, the come away from a point away from home is a real plus and mean we continue our unbeaten run.”
“The manner in which we equalised in the dying moments of the game shows how united we are as a group and gave everyone a real buzz afterwards.
“We can be really happy to take away the fact that, just like at East Preston, we’re proving to be a very hard team to beat.”
