Hassocks head to Seal Bay Stadium for Peter Bentley Cup action
Hassocks enter the Peter Bentley League Cup at the second round stage of the competition, taking on Selsey at the Seal Bay Stadium for the first time since the 2014-15 campaign.
The Robins will be hoping to fare better on this occasion than they did a week ago against Selsey’s fellow Division One club, Roffey.
Hassocks bowed out of the Sussex Principal RUR Charity Cup via a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Bartholomew Way.
Selsey this season
Having reached the Division One playoffs last season, Selsey will be hoping to go one better this time around and win promotion back to the Premier Division after an eight year absence.
Easier said than done of course, with the league looking fiercely competitive. The Blues currently sit 12th with three wins, two draws and three defeats.
An indication of the potential banana skin lying ahead is that Selsey eliminated Tooting & Mitcham United from the FA Vase and hammered Premier Division Pagham 3-0 away from home in the Sussex Senior Cup.

Hassocks and the Blues were frequent opponents before Selsey were relegated from the Premier Division in 2015, meeting 54 times in total. The Robins edge the head-to-head with 27 wins to Selsey’s 22, leaving only five draws.
In terms of the Peter Bentley Cup, there have been two previous clashes resulting in one win apiece. The most recent came in the 2007-08 campaign.
Hassocks won 2-0 away from home despite manager Dave John getting a call a few hours before kick off to say one of his starting XI would not be able to play having been unexpectedly arrested the previous evening.

A 6-0 win at the High Street Ground as it was then known in April 2015 secured Premier Division survival for the Robins against the already relegated Blues.
Phil Johnson hit a hat-trick – his second of the season against Selsey – and there were goals for Nick Pitcher, Jake Booth and Nathan Miles.
How to get to the Seal Bay Stadium
Follow the A27 to Chichester, joining the by-pass until you reach the third roundabout. Here, take the first exit onto the B2145 towards Selsey.
Stay on the B2145 all the way into the town, with the car park for the ground being on your right immediately after the Methodist Church.
