Enthralling Mid Sussex Derby goes Heath’s way on penalties
Highlights from the Peter Bentley League Cup Third Round match between Hassocks and Haywards Heath Town at the Beacon on Tuesday 31st October 2023.
Heath progressed to the quarter finals of the competition by winning the first Mid Sussex Derby between the clubs for five years on penalties.
Hassocks took a 2-0 lead via goals from Liam Benson and Super Pat Harding, only for the Bluebells to come fighting back through Cameron Dobell and former Robins striker Charlie Pitcher.
That meant the game went to spot kicks. Heath scored all five of their penalties whilst Benson missed for Hassocks, sending the Bluebells through to a last eight meeting with either Midhurst & Easebourne or Dorking Wanderers B.
