22 questions with Jack Wilkins

It was a breakthrough season in 2017-18 for young Hassocks forward Jack Wilkins as he established himself as a first team regular out on the wing.

Phsyco – the clue is in the name.

What team do your support?
Chelsea.

Who was your footballing idol growing up?
Frank Lampard or Didier Drogba.



What is the most valuable medal or award in your trophy collection?
I’ve won back-to-back titles and a golden boot in youth football.

Best moment in your career?
I’ve taken Woking from the Conference to the Champions League in six seasons on Football Manager. Stuff like that doesn’t go unnoticed.

Most embarrassing moment of your career?
Losing against St Francis Rangers for the youth team. Not sure we would ever live that down.

Funniest thing you’ve seen in football?
Liam Benson and Alex Spinks doing their initiation song together this season.

Best player you’ve ever played with?
Joe Russell.

Best ground you’ve ever played at?
The Beacon, obviously.

Favourite opposition team to play against?
None. I hate all our opposition.

Who is the best trainer at Hassocks?
Spencer Slaughter.

Worst dressed player?
James Littlejohn. Horrific.

What’s the best thing about playing for Hassocks?
Everything about playing for Hassocks is great.

What’s the best piece of footballing advice you’ve been given?
“Jack, calm down.” Seem to hear that from Mark Dalgleish all the time and he isn’t exactly a calm bloke himself.

If you could introduce one rule to football, what would it be?
Straight red cards bought in for diving.

Ronaldo.

Which player do you dislike in football the most and why?
Luis Suarez.
