Tonight’s scheduled Southern Combination League Under 23 West Division clash between Broadbridge Heath and Hassocks has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The monsoon-like weather than hit Sussex yesterday has rendered the pitch at the Leisure Centre unplayable. The first teams of the two clubs are also due to meet there this Saturday, so both sides will be hoping for no further rain ahead of the weekend.
No date has been set for the rearranged tie yet. The postponement will give Horsham YMCA the chance to leapfrog the Robins at the top of the table should their game at Mile Oak beat the weather and they manage to overcome the bottom of the table Oakers.
Hassocks will now not have played for three weeks going into their next fixture which is against Bostik League side Hastings United in the Sussex Under 23 Challenge Cup. That takes place at the Beacon with a 7.45pm kick off.
The following week, Nigel Pearce’s side are in League Cup action at home to Peacehaven & Telscombe before finally playing another league game when Southwick are the visitors to Mid Sussex on Thursday 29th November, leaving the Robins without a league game for over a month.
