Hassocks v AFC Uckfield Town falls to the weather

Tonight’s Southern Combination League Premier Division game between Hassocks and AFC Uckfield Town has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

There has been no let up in the rain that has hammered down in Mid Sussex throughout today, leaving the Beacon pitch under water as a result.

The game had originally been due to take place on Saturday 3rd November at the Oaks but Uckfield’s continued involvement in the FA Vase meant it was moved.

As a result of their excellent win at AFC Croydon Athletic, Uckfield are still in the national cup competition and with a huge third round tie against Sutton Common Rovers to come at the weekend, Hassocks agreed to switch the game from the Oaks to the Beacon in an attempt to protect their opponents pitch for Saturday.

It will be a case of third time lucky for getting played now. No new date has been set for the fixture yet, although with very few available midweek dates between now and Christmas if may not take place until the new year. Please keep an eye on our website and social media feeds for updates as and when we have them.

Hassocks are next due in action this coming Saturday when Premier Division leaders Horsham YMCA visit the Beacon. Kick off in that one is 3pm while before that, the Under 23s are due to host Southwick on Thursday night.
