Robins head to the Nest hoping to avoid sting in the tail
Hassocks are in Tuesday night action making the trip to the Sussex-Surrey border to take on Loxwood in a rearranged Southern Combination Premier Division fixture.
The original tie was postponed back in September when a wasp nest appeared in one of the goals at Plaistow Road.
This is the Robins’ game in hand on league leaders Haywards Heath Town. A victory against the Magpies would close the gap between Hassocks and their local rivals to two points.
Loxwood are in desperate need of a win themselves, having won just one of their past nine games in all competitions.
Loxwood this season
The Magpies made a flying start to the campaign, so much so that they sat sixth in the table when Hassocks had been due to visit in September.
But since then, there has been a huge turnover in players whilst Loxwood also parted company with the management team newly appointed in the summer.
John Penalver is currently in interim charge at the Nest and looking to arrest a slide which has seen the Magpies slip to 15th in the standings.
Loxwood v Hassocks head-to-head
The sides first clashed in the 2014-15 season. Since then, there have been 18 meetings, all of which have come in the bread and butter of league football.
Hassocks have won six, drawn four and lost eight. The fixture has provided 34 goals in the past nine matches.
Last time Hassocks played Loxwood
It was a straightforward 4-0 win at the Hassocks Hotel Beacon Ground back in January for the Robins. Alex Bygraves, Big Alex Fair, tall striker Jamie Wilkes and Pat Harding were all on target.
Loxwood meanwhile saw two members of coaching staff sent from the bench and were considerably lucky to only pick up only two yellow cards over the course of a pretty brutal 90 minutes.
How to get to the Nest
Follow the A272 to and through Billingshurst, crossing the roundabout with the A29 before joining the B2133 shortly after.
Pass through Newpound and Roundstreet Common, approaching a fork in the road with Skiff Lane. Plaistow Road is just on the left after that with the ground a very short distance down it.
