The Robins ran out 3-1 victors in their first ever meeting against the Rams, in the process ending Petersfield’s unbeaten start to life in the Southern Combination League following a summer move from the Wessex League.
Morgan Vale struck after only one minute with tall striker Jamie Wilkes doubling the lead five before half time. 120 seconds later and Joe Overy added a third to leave home supporters in dreamland.
Josh Brown made a superb penalty save just after the interval from Callum Kimber but Petersfield would not be denied for long, Asad Ssemwogerere pulling one back on 54 minutes.
The Rams were the better team after that. Hassocks though held firm for a huge three points against opponents likely to be in title contention come the end of the campaign.
