Hassocks and AFC Uckfield Town’s Southern Combination League Premier Division clash will now take place at the Beacon on Tuesday 18th December with a 7.45pm kick off.
This will be third attempt to get the game played following a combination of Uckfield’s FA Vase run and the wet weather that hit Mid Sussex last week.
The match had originally been due to take place at the Oaks on Saturday 3rd November but had to be postponed due to the Oaks clash with AFC Croydon Athletic in the second round of the FA Vase. They won that 2-1 to progress to the third round for the first time in their history where they will meet Sutton Common Rovers.
It was then rescheduled for Tuesday 27th April and moved from Uckfield to the Beacon in a bid to protect the Oaks pitch for that meeting with Sutton which was due to take place four days later. As it was, Storm Diana rendered the Beacon pitch unplayable for that one and also saw Uckfield have to postpone their FA Vase tie which now takes place this Saturday.
This will be the 14th meeting between the two sides. Hassocks have won eight with Uckfield triumphing in six. There has never been a draw, which means it won’t be one that you’ll want to include on your coupon. When Hassocks do win against Town, they tend to win big having plundered 34 goals in the fixture.
The rearrangement gives Hassocks a run of three home games in the space of a week before Christmas. They welcome Haywards Heath Town to the Beacon on Tuesday 11th December in the quarter finals of the Sussex Principal RUR Charity Cup.
Four days later and Peacehaven & Telscombe are the visitors in the Premier Division before Uckfield make the short journey west three days after all.
