AFC Uckfield Town’s visit to the Beacon postponed

Hassocks’ Southern Combination Premier League Division game with AFC Uckfield Town has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at the Beacon.

The heavy rain that began falling this afternoon left the surface underwater and following an inspection by match referee Daniel D’Urso, the decision was taken to call the match off.

The Beacon had handled the deluge of Saturday well with the Robins game with Peacehaven & Telscombe being completed.

It was playable again less than 24 hours later as the Ladies booked a semi final spot in the Sussex Women’s Challenge Trophy by beating AFC Littlehampton 3-1.

Today’s rainfall has proven too much though and so the game with the Oaks will have to be rearranged for a third time.

The original fixture scheduled for Saturday 3rd November was moved due to the Oakmen’s continued involvement in the FA Vase. The rescheduled game on Tuesday 27th November was then lost to Storm Diana.

No new date has been set yet for the fourth attempt to get the game played, so please keep an eye on our website and social media feeds for updates.

The postponement means that Hassocks are next in action this Saturday with a tough looking game away at league leaders Chichester City.

The next game at the Beacon meanwhile will take place on Boxing Day when Lancing are the visitors. Kick off is 11am for that one and it is half price entry for any Brighton season ticket holders who would like to catch some non-league football before heading to the Amex for the Albion’s game with Arsenal.
