Hassocks have completed the signings of two new midfielders, both of whom will be familiar faces to the Beacon faithful.
Jack Rowe-Hurst has returned to the Robins for a second spell with the club after leaving in the summer of 2017 whilst Lewis Westlake is also back having departed last summer.
Rowe-Hurst originally joined Hassocks from Horsham in February 2017 and had a huge impact on the great escape from relegation in the 2016-17 season, scoring three times from 15 appearances in an attacking midfield role.
The former Burgess Hill Town youngster netted on his home debut against Hailsham Town and then followed that up with a stunning showing when the Robins blew aside eventual champions Shoreham, hammering the Musselmen 4-1 at the Beacon in one of the biggest shock results of the campaign.
His final goal came in his last game in Hassocks colours as the Robins defeated Crawley Down Gatwick 3-2 in the last game of the season with a summer move to Division One side Ringmer following.
He spent last season at the Caburn, scoring 21 times from 31 appearances before Ringmer folded in the close season after which he followed manager Ash Bailey to Lancing.
Rowe-Hurst has had something of a nomadic existence so far this season, lasting a few months with Lancing before moving onto today’s visitors Pagham and then joining Shoreham at the turn of the year.
It is from the Middle Road outfit that he now returns to the Beacon for a second spell which began with a hugely encouraging showing in the 1-1 draw with Little Common a fortnight ago.
Westlake meanwhile was another player to move to Culver Road in the summer but his stay with Lancing
was even shorter than Rowe-Hurst’s and he moved to Loxwood a few weeks into the season.
Westlake enjoyed a relatively fruitful season with the struggling Magpies, making 20 starts and two appearances as a substitute since his arrival at Plaistow Road with one goal and two assists to his name.
He became a popular player at the Beacon during his previous spell having joined the club ahead of the 2016-17 season. Westlake made 62 appearances over the following two campaigns, scoring four times.
Both players featured in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at the Beacon and will boost Mark Dalgleish’s options as the Robins look to end the campaign strongly.
