Hassocks have confirmed their pre-season friendly line up ahead of the 2019-20 Southern Combination League season.
The Robins will kick things off against Mid Sussex League champions Cuckfield Rangers at Ardingly College on Saturday 13th July with a 1pm kick off.
A week later, Mark Dalgleish will take his side to Division Two outfit Upper Beeding. That game takes place at the Upper Beeding Memorial Playing Field with a 1.30pm start on Saturday 20th July. The Robins will be looking to avenge the 2-1 defeat they suffered at Beeding’s hands last season.
Three days later on Tuesday 23rd July, Burgess Hill Town will visit the Beacon for the Ann John Memorial Trophy. This will be the seventh edition of the annual charity match which raises money for St Peter & St James’ Hospice in memory of Ann, the much-missed wife of Hassocks chairman Dave John, who was a constant presence around the football club until she sadly lost her battle with cancer in January 2014.
The Hillians are the current holders of the cup having won 4-0 in last year’s meeting. Kick off will be at 7.45pm with admission prices to be announced shortly.
48 hours after that clash with Hill, Hassocks will take on Mid Sussex’s other Bostik League side when Shaun Saunders brings Haywards Heath Town to the Beacon on Thursday 25th July. Kick off is again at 7.45pm.
Hassocks will finish an extremely busy week away at Division One outfit Storrington on Saturday 27th July. It will be the Robins first visit to Storrington Recreation Ground since they won 5-1 there in the second round of the Sussex Senior Cup in 2012, a match notable for the fact that Ashley Marsh was on the score sheet.
The Robins final friendly takes place on Tuesday 30th July against AFC Varndeanians at Culver Road. Hassocks lost 2-0 to V’s last year. Kick off in that one is 7.45pm
