It’s been a weekend washout for the Robins with Saturday’s first team game against Little Common and both of Sunday’s fixtures at the Beacon all postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Mid Sussex took a real hammering with weather over the past week with the worst of the rainfall coming on Saturday morning, when it was also combined with gale force winds.
A morning inspection saw Common’s visit called off at around 10am. The pitch was already saturated by that point in time and with no respite from the storm predicted, the only option was to call off the game.
It is the second home game in a row that Hassocks have seen lost to the weather. AFC Uckfield Town’s trip to the Beacon two weeks previously also fell, meaning that the Robins now haven’t played a Premier Division match at the home since defeating Loxwood 6-2 five weeks ago.
No date has yet been set for a rearrangement between Hassocks and Common. Meanwhile, the AFC Uckfield Town match is now due to take place on Tuesday 19th November at 7.45pm.
With the wet weather continuing throughout Saturday evening, it was also decided that the Under 18s clash with Mile Oak and the Ladies meeting with Parkwood Rangers would be postponed.
The next fixture at the Beacon is now set to take place on Tuesday night when Lancing visit in the second round of the Sussex Senior Cup.
Kick off is at 7.45pm and entrance is £6 adults, £3 concessions and Under 16s go free. Please keep an eye on our social media feeds and website for news about any postponements of that one should the weather continue to be bad over the coming days.
One Hassocks team did manage to get a game in earlier in the week with the Under 23s hosting reigning champions Horsham YMCA.
Dave John’s side gave it a good go, but ultimately came up short as they went down 2-1. George Galbraith-Gibbons was the Robins scorer.
