Tighe takes himself onto a century of Hassocks games

Bradley Tighe is the latest name on the list of Hassocks Centurions with the defender having made his 100th appearance for the club in the Robins’ 3-2 Southern Combination League Premier Division Supplementary Shield defeat to Lingfield.

Tighe became the 41st Hassocks youth team product to reach the landmark in senior football with his 100 coming up over three different spells with the club, the most recent of which only began post-lockdown.

He made his debut as a 17-year-old under Dave John in the 2014-15 season, going onto make the right back position his own when Mark Dalgleish and Phil Wickwar took over the Hassocks hot seat in December of that year, playing an important role in the great escape from relegation which followed.

Tighe remained a first team regular throughout the next two seasons, racking up 74 appearances without scoring before moving to Ringmer at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

He had been a real clubman during that final season at the Beacon, combining his first team duties by turning out for the Under 21s on a Thursday night. Playing for Nigel Pearce’s side enabled him to show a more attacking element to his game, and he ended up scoring twice in 13 appearances.

A year after Tighe signed for Ringmer, the Blues unfortunately folded. His next stop was Lancing, for whom he played seven games at the beginning of the 2018-19 season before Dalgleish brought him back to the Beacon in November 2018.

Tighe went onto play 23 times, taking his appearances total onto 97. Although he was a Hassocks player at the start of the 2019-20 campaign, he did not make an appearance before moving to Seaford Town alongside Jack Rowe-Hurst, where he remained until his latest return to the Beacon.

His third spell began when Hassocks kicked off their Supplementary Shield campaign away at Crawley Down Gatwick with a 2-2 draw, Tighe being unfortunate to score an own goal at the Haven.

Since then, Hassocks have lost only once with him in the side. He has always been a popular figure at the Beacon and can no doubt expect a warm belated welcome back – and congratulations on passing 100 appearances for the club – when supporters are finally allowed to return.
