Six games coming up for Hassocks in a busy February
Six February fixtures lie in wait for Hassocks with the obvious highlight being the Sussex Principal RUR Charity Cup quarter final with Seaford Town.
The Badgers will visit the Beacon on Tuesday 15th February with a 7:45pm kick off to decide who will progress to the final four of the competition.
Town are enjoying an excellent season in Division One, where they are currently locked in a fascinating four-way title battle with Roffey, Epsom & Ewell and Midhurst & Easebourne.
Their cup form has been equally impressive. To reach this stage of the competition, Seaford have already eliminated one Premier Division outfit in Broadbridge Heath and accounted for Isthmian League side Lancing.
Hassocks will need to be at their best if they are to stand a chance of reaching a first semi final for 10 years.
Before the magic of the RUR Cup comes to the Beacon, the Robins face two rearranged away games which were lost to wet weather earlier in the season.
On Tuesday 1st February, Hassocks go to Crawley Down Gatwick for their third meeting of the campaign against the Anvils.
The previous two have come in cup competitions. Hassocks booked their RUR quarter final spot by beating the Anvils 2-1 in extra time at the Beacon in mid-January.
Before that, Down ended the Robins’ interest in the Sussex Senior Cup with a 2-0 success back in October. Kick off at the Haven is at 7:30pm.
Four days later and it will be third time lucky against AFC Uckfield Town. Hassocks have seen two scheduled trips to the Oaks postponed so far, following the spoils being shared in a 2-2 August draw at the Beacon.
A short trip over Clayton Hill to Withdean Stadium follows on Saturday 12th February for a huge game against improving AFC Varndeanians.
Seaford visit three days later before the Robins go to Gorings Mead to face Horsham YMCA on Saturday 19th February, followed by a home Premier Division fixture with Loxwood on Saturday 26th.
Remarkably, the Under 23s have already completed their North Division fixtures. There may yet be a Supplementary competition added, but at the time of writing the only remaining interest is in the League Cup.
West Division side Arundel provide the opposition in the second round on Thursday 10th February, 7:45pm kick off at the Beacon.
The Under 18s have also finished their Central Division fixtures. Likewise, we await confirmation of whether a new competition will be devised to provide another couple of months of football.
In contrast, the Ladies have played only six league games so far and so they have a busy time ahead. February will see them go to Woodingdean Wanderers on Sunday 6th, host Worthing Town on Sunday 13th, visit Horsham Sparrows in the League Cup on Sunday 20th and then travel to Roffey on Sunday 27th.
As always, Veterans fixtures should be taken with a pinch of salt as they are subject to change at short notice. Currently, their one scheduled game is a top of the table clash on Sunday 13th February at 2pm against Ardingly at Oriel High School.
