Phil Johnson scored four times for Hassocks as the Robins picked up three points away at Crawley Down Gatwick which took them past the magical 40 mark for the 2018-19 season.
Johnson had his hat-trick before 50 minutes was up with Liam Benson also on target as Hassocks took firm control of proceedings at the Haven.
Ollie Broad pulled one back for the hosts on 58 minutes but Johnson made the game safe with his fourth on 70. Nick Sullivan grabbed Down’s second consolation with his traditional goal against the Robins in injury time.
