The Robins took to the field on a Sunday for the first time in senior football and it turned out to be a good experience as they progressed to the second qualifying round of the FA Vase with a 2-0 win at Meridian Valley Park.
Both the goals came in the second half. Substitute Jamie Hillwood opened the scoring with 67 minutes played and nine minutes later Jack Troak doubled the advantage before giving an exuberant celebration.
Hassocks’ victory was their first in the Vase for five years and earns Mark Dalgleish and his players a home tie with Southern Combination League Premier Division rivals Horley Town in the next round.
