The Robins failed to score for the third game running despite creating a number of good opportunities as they fell to a 1-0 defeat away against Crawley Down.

In amongst their wastefulness, Hassocks were left incensed by a controversial refereeing decision midway through the second half.

Phil Johnson was hauled down in the box by Down goalkeeper Alex Bellingham with Jack Troak firing home the loose ball.

When the assistant referee raised his flag against Troak, everyone inside the Haven assumed the referee would award a penalty as the foul on Johnson had occurred before the offside.

Remarkably, the referee concluded Bellingham had not halted Johnson illegally. Further fuel was added to the Robins’ anger when Ollie Leslie bundled home the only goal of the game for Down in the final 10 minutes.
